The Equal Opportunity Solar (EOS) Fund is a triple impact program, where contributions have the ability to return 60% of value in the first year, creating strong, predictable results for 25 years of solar power to Hawaii's low and middle income families.

OUR WHY

Hawaii is on the frontlines of climate change. However, Hawaii is also leading the nation in the transition to a net-zero future. We believe that the transition to a net-zero future needs to be just and inclusive.
The EOS Fund will remove barriers to solar ownership by partnering donors with the existing state
Green Energy Money-$aver (GEM$) program.

OUR HOW

The donations to the EOS Fund are leveraged as a down payment to install solar systems for these families in the existing state financing system of the GEM$ program, which offers loans at 5.5% interest. The EOS Fund will lower monthly loan repayments and make solar power more accessible to those who need it the most.

For example, a 10kW rooftop solar system in Waianae will produce $571 electricity per month – $6,850 annually.  When the EOS Fund provides a donation, the loan payment through GEMS is only $275 a month.  The household will save $296 per month in energy costs ($3,552 annually).

Our goal is to reach 1,000 households. If we meet that goal, families can save over $3,552 a year. Multiplied by 1,000, the EOS Fund can infuse over $3,552,000 each year to households that need it the most.
